无事不登三宝殿,九牛一毛添香油;
祈福禳解只顾私,贪求无厌不反思;

Subject: Two Poems in Calligraphy__两首翰墨诗作

As requested by some disciples two poems composed years ago are now in calligraphy.

They asked me to use names that would be suitable or interesting for the poems as requesters. So I made up these names for all Chinese readers to enjoy.

May all beings attain Enlightenment soon!

Buddha Sitting in Silence Yutang Lin

Without problems would not come to the Triple Gem Hall;
Donating one hair out of nine cows for offerings of oil and incense.
Once freed from troubles immediately forget the grace of salvation;
In leisure let loose feelings and desires to kindle new sorrows.
Beseeching fortunes and pacification only for self-centered interests;
Never reflect on one’s endless requests coming out of insatiable greed.
Great compassion takes into no account the mistakes of minors;
Year after year setting the example by remaining in eternal silence.

Comment:

While looking at the statue of Buddha I became inspired to compose this one.
