持念累积数纵多，犹存计较难见效；
发心即应虚空广，执意如何证菩提？

修行虽属精进，但在生活中犹多计较，即自误矣！发心应为渡尽一切众生，奈何眼前几个，芝麻些事，即放不过？此等关卡，愿行者自悟自度；旁人无暇与你对耗也！

Ineffectual　Yutang Lin

Even though accumulated number of chanting practices is large,
Still holding grudges in daily life would render efforts ineffectual.
Motivation for Dharma practices should be as limitless as the sky,
With fixation to intentions how could Bodhi ever be attained?

Comment:

Practitioners, who are diligent in Dharma practices and yet still hold grudges in daily-life relationships, are self-defeating. Motivation for Dharma practices should be the aspiration to help all beings attain enlightenment; how could it be that a few people in front of one's eyes and some matters that are as trivial as sesame seeds cannot be overlooked? This kind of passes may practitioners realize and overcome by themselves; others would not have the leisure to waste on serving as your opponents.
