Supplication to Green Tara Yutang Lin

Marrow of Mercy from all Buddhas, compassionate tears of Guan Yin,
Moisten and nourish to transform the stubborn and rigid beings
Dispelled devils through laughter, guard and help attainment of enlightenment,
Dharma practitioners seek and rely on Your Holy Mother's grace
Sacred Potala Cave amid sky and sea, rainbow body surrounded by tidal sounds,
When will this practitioner personally realize thus
Drifting from realm to realm in Samsara, floating up and down in waves of suffering
Only Your Holiness is capable of universal salvation

As requested by disciples Ji Hu and Mian Yan
Reverently composed in Chinese and translated on December 17, 2007
El Cerrito, California

Appendix:

Yesterday disciple Jing Xing requested me to compose a supplication to Green Tara. And yet the stanza I composed turned out to be a praise. Also, it occurred to me then that disciples Ji Hu and Mian Yan had respectively made the same request a while back. But at those times I replied that, since I had already composed "Praise to Taras," that would do. Yesterday after the fire puja I needed rest and was incapable of going on to compose a supplication. Early this morning, in accordance with the general ideas of the praise, I composed the supplication. A praise emphasizes on illustrating the virtuous merits, while a supplication should include references to pleading for blessings. The causal conditions are such that it took some time for this stanza to become available, and the disciples mentioned as requesters are still the original ones. Using the meaning of their Dharma names, it seems to have been prearranged that, one praises through reverent activities (Jing Xing), and supplicates with passionate callings (Ji Hu), and thus Her merciful grace lasts continuously (Mian Yan).
