我發現這個網站就在我的一本名為:“The Three C of Each Yana and their Interconnections within The Whole System of Buddhism, Part II (陳氏小冊叢書第72號) 的小冊被蟲子蛀了一個小洞的當天。

Greetings Doctor Lin!

I just found the website devoted to the teachings of the Buddhist Yogi C.M. Chen.

I found this website on the day that my copy of The Three C of Each Yana and Their Interconnections Within the Whole System of Buddhism, Part II (Chenian Booklet Series No. 72) got a small hole in it. I was very unhappy that my booklets were going to be nothing more than one of the seven worn out mats of the Yogi. Then I was very happy, and somewhat amused, to find that Chenian booklets are on yogichen.org, having arrived in a different format.

I fixed the plumbing in Yogi Chen's apartment on Shattuck Avenue sometime between 1971 and 1975; I could fix more exactly the date, but it is not important, it is one of those things between Los Angeles and New York that the traveler definitely saw and did because he was on foot. Yogi Chen had seen me peering into the trunk of my 1948 Cadillac Fleetwood, parked on Shattuck Avenue. This Cadillac had many tools in its trunk, all of them in appropriate toolboxes, because at that time I was very interested in understanding how things work. Yogi Chen approached and asked if I could fix the plumbing in his apartment. I said, "I don't know", and he said "I think you can, come with me." I took two pipe wrenches, a small one and a bigger one. I fixed the plumbing; and I said I did NOT want any money, that I had already done what I needed to do for money downtown before he came along.

Yogi Chen turned on the water in the sink (now that one could safely turn on the water, because I had fixed the plumbing) and said,

"Cup your hands, and fill them with water."

Then Yogi Chen turned off the water.

Then Yogi Chen said,

"Okay, make a fist. Now, you know what is the water. What is in your fists is non-water. You know what is being; now you know what is nonbeing. " *

I packed up my two pipewrenches and bowed slightly and walked out. On the way out, he handed me several of the Chenian Booklets.

Never saw him again.

I read through the Chenian booklets over the years.

Please let me know if, even at this late date, you ever need any proofreading done, concomitant with the complete digitization of Yogi Chen's teachings.

Best,

Richard
