Grasping Means Self-limitation

Yutang Lin

Ordinary people naturally has personal views and preferences
When one insists on personal views and intentions
Conflicts with others or worldly situations
Can hardly be avoided
Consequently sorrows formed and hindrances encountered
Even when there are good teachers or friends giving advices
After several times of failed persuasions
None will bother to say anything anymore

Ordinary people's views and preferences
Are often biased and partial
The result of grasping to personal views and intentions
Is actually self-limitation within a tiny sphere
Just as sitting inside a well to see the sky

If one does not insist on personal views and intentions
Only then can one consider other possible choices
And have an open panoramic view and clear mind
When grasping is let go
Only then can the possibility for boundless emancipation arise

Smart you
As long as you comprehend that
Grasping is indeed self-limitation
You will certainly no longer stay
Within the old steps that are self-confining
