Quality and Quantity

Yutang Lin

Pure intention, solid practices and carriable load,
Despite changes in situations, will always go on.
Overexerting endeavors could not be long lasting;
Engulfed in busy social activities is plain worldly.

Comment:

Dharma practices and services should be solid in quality and manageable in quantity. Maintaining pure aspiration, solid and plain approaches and proper amount of load would ensure continuation of progress on the path despite changes in environment and supports. If the load is overexerting, even though the intention is pure and the quality solid, it would not last for long. For those that appear to be popular and famous, nevertheless there is no leisure for practice in solitude because of too many social and propaganda activities, then they could hardly escape the fate of becoming players of worldly games.
