Common Recognition

Yutang Lin

Stubborn and awesome force is difficult to last for long.
Temporary unwilling compliance simply boils grudges.
To attain peace we need to build a common recognition
That in this life we are all floating in ocean of suffering.

Comment:

Peace could not be maintained for long by awesome powers. Without common recognition, there must be some grudges that will sooner or later boil into conflicts. The Dharma teaches that, since all sentient beings are pitiful ones that float up and down in the ocean of suffering, therefore we should have sympathy for one another and help one another. The Dharma reveals to us the path toward ultimate liberation from suffering. Thereby all sentient beings could share the path and its goal by mutual help toward making progress on the path. If all people in the world could understand the Dharma, and form a common recognition through such understanding, then permanent peach could be realized someday.
