Offering and Attending

Yutang Lin

Attending and offering to practice humble obedience;
To fit others' convenience intimately, sacrifice one's.
Serving holy images to realize compassionate wishes,
Gradually extending Dharma services to fit all beings.

Comments:

Install images of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and daily make offerings of incense, lamps, etc. to them as a regular practice. This is the beginning of practicing to serve and attend to the needs of all sentient beings. Sacrifice one's own conveniences and preferences in order to suit others'; thorough adherence to such humbleness and obedience would be most congenial to eradication of self. Extend the habitual tendency of serving and making offerings to Buddhas to beings in one's surroundings, and furthermore, upgrade it to engaging in Dharma services to benefit all sorts of beings, then it will become materialization of one's expansive compassionate aspirations.
